In July 2010 the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force began an investigation into the distribution of child pornography. As part of that investigation a Boone County residence was identified as offering child pornography through file sharing programs.
On July 13, 2010 Task Force detectives served a court ordered search warrant on the suspect address identified as 6390 South Sabine Drive just south of Columbia, Missouri. As a result of that search numerous items were seized including several computers and associated media.
During a subsequent examination of the seized items approximately 26 videos were recovered showing children being sexually molested and engaged in sexual conduct, some believed to be as young as three years of age. Evidence obtained from the examinations and from interviews identified an eighteen year old man as the suspect. Prior to the completion of the examination it was believed the suspect had fled the state possibly to the country of Mexico.
In Mid-August 2010 this case was referred to Assistant U.S. Attorneys for federal prosecution. On September 23, 1010 a federal grand jury indicted the suspect on charges pertaining to the possession of child pornography. A federal arrest warrant has been issued.
In addition to the federal arrest warrants the suspect also has active arrest warrants for failure to appear for unrelated charges in Boone County Circuit Court. These offenses include First Degree Robbery, Second Degree Burglary, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The suspect is identified as 19 year old Diego Camargo-Wasserman of 6390 South Sabine Drive, Columbia, Missouri.
